UrbanArt: Nightcaps - what a brilliant idea!

Today, I stumbled upon "Nightcaps", an urban art installation across Berlin:

"Nightcaps: Sculpture Against Light Pollution is a public art project consisting of 15 sculptures on streetlamps, designed to shield the light from spreading upwards and redirect it downwards. Nightcaps draws on a variety of cultural references, from religious head coverings to childlike ponytails, bats, and bucket hats, focusing on both cultural diversity and biodiversity, encouraging action through offering playful, optimistic, and approachable alternatives to over-illumination. Designed to stimulate public interest and provoke conversation, the project involved residents of the neighborhood through workshops, questionnaires, and further discussions with scientists and dark-sky advocates. Nightcaps are supported by the German social housing company degewo AG, which owns the street lamps installed in Brunnenviertel, Berlin."
